Established in 1987 by Mr. Choopong Choopojcharoen, Bar BQ Plaza opened its first branch in Central Plaza Ladprao, Thailand. The self-cooking Mongolian-Japanese style barbeque restaurant (commonly mistaken as Thai barbeque) quickly gained popularity among the locals with its unique grilling experience and outstanding taste alongside its selection of high-quality meats and vegetables.

The soup, sauces and variety of marinated meats and vegetables were a fusion of flavours that blended well with one another. Pair that with a touch of spiciness to suit the local taste buds and voila, a success story is born.

It didn’t take long before the barbeque restaurant’s increasing popularity allowed the expansion of branches with new upcoming malls in Thailand and soon… its neighbouring countries as well!

In 2005, Bar BQ Plaza established its presence in Malaysia through a joint venture with a local Malaysian company, W.A Food Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and was formed with the aim to provide the same unique grilling-dining experience to and for Malaysians.

Its flagship store in 1Utama Shopping Centre was well received by the people of Malaysia and its popularity grew exponentially. The success that ensued the restaurant allowed it to branch out quickly to popular malls like Sunway Pyramid and soon, a widespread of outlets emerged throughout Kuala Lumpur City and the Klang Valley region.
